Davidson is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Financial Reporting team within the Finance organization.
The Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting will be responsible for assessment and execution of financial reporting, technical accounting, federal and state tax, and regulatory matters.
This role will be involved with the Company’s external financial and regulatory reporting, tax calculations and payments, and other ad hoc projects as necessary, and will interact with members of various departments as well as with independent auditors and tax advisors to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with external standards.
The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, excellent communication skills, and high attention to detail.
The ability to take initiative and interact effectively with business partners at all levels of the organization is highly desired.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
CPA license strongly preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in public or private accounting.
Extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and FINRA and SEC rules and regulations pertaining to financial reporting.
Strong analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills, high integrity, and detail oriented.
Ability to self-motivate and work effectively to manage multiple projects and within strict time constraints.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including employees, managers, and external vendors.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel skills to perform multi-faceted financial analysis.
Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex business problems with high degree of accuracy.
Excellence in business writing and ability to create accounting policy documents.
Ability to follow policies and procedures and maintain client confidentiality.
Successful completion of the FINRA SIE and Series 99 Exams (must be passed within 120 days of hire).
Duties: Prepare the company’s tax provision, make quarterly tax payments, and assist with filing federal, state, and local tax returns in a timely and accurate manner.
Provide technical tax expertise, stay current on Federal and state tax developments, and direct the compliance of Federal and state tax reporting requirements.
Be a key point of contact for tax notices and quarterly and annual tax deliverables including book-to-tax difference calculations and state income tax apportionment schedules.
Prepare quarterly shareholder materials and commentary with insights on financial data drivers and trends.
Assist with documentation, development, and implementation of accounting policies and procedures, including implementation efforts for new accounting standards and reporting requirements as well as review of proposed standards.
Assist in analyzing and resolving complex accounting issues, including interpreting external technical accounting proposals and pronouncements.
Perform technical accounting research as needed, prepare memos to document conclusions and proper accounting treatment, and interact with external auditors with respect to accounting conclusions reached.
Assist with transactional due diligence and purchase accounting.
Assist in the preparation of the company’s financial statements and accompanying footnotes.
Provide support for both internal and external audits and interact with controllership and independent public accountants on accounting policy matters.
Prepare weekly and monthly regulatory reporting requirements (i.
e.
, FINRA, SEC, etc.
).
Be a point of contact for financial reporting related issues (SEC guidance, FASB Standards, etc.
).
Support the Finance department on special projects and activities and perform other duties as assigned.
