Davidson is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Accounting Close team within the Finance organization.
The Assistant Controller will lead the Accounting Close team and will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Working closely with the Controller, this position involves overseeing the day-to-day accounting, reconciling financial transactions, and ensuring the production of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
The Assistant Controller has responsibility for the planning, direction, and control of the general ledger system.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
CPA designation required.
A minimum of 7 years of relative professional experience Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and FINRA and SEC rules and regulations pertaining to financial reporting.
Prior supervisory experience required.
Strong analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills, high integrity, and detail oriented.
Ability to self-motivate and work effectively to manage multiple responsibilities and within strict time constraints.
Strong oral and written communications and human relation skills.
Ability to function in an automated accounting environment with strong computer skills.
Ability to work independently and effectively within strict time constraints.
Ability to follow policies and procedures and maintain client confidentiality.
Ability to communicate in a clear, service-oriented manner and use appropriate, professional language and grammar to effectively exchange ideas and information.
Ability to proactively work with both external and internal clients.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel skills to perform multi-faceted financial analysis.
Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance.
Successful completion of the FINRA SIE and Series 99 Exams (must be passed within 120 days of hire).

Duties: Assist the Controller in planning, staffing, directing, and controlling business and personnel activities.
Oversee and manage deadlines for the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Oversee and maintain multiple computerized general ledger accounting systems and subsidiary record keeping systems to ensure the accurate and timely reporting of the firm’s results and financial condition.
Assist in the coordination of internal and external audits, providing documentation and explanations, as needed, to auditors and regulatory agencies.
Monitor and ensure compliance with rules and regulations specific to broker-dealers, including those of the SEC, FINRA, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
Interact with staff across the firm’s departments to gain insights and make recommendations for improving operational efficiency, profitability, and data integrity.
Establish and maintain effective internal controls to ensure the financial reporting integrity and responsible for the safe-guarding of company assets.
Provide leadership and mentorship to accounting staff.
Prepare and review monthly financial statements and associated management reports.
Perform an analysis of all income and expense and research variances from expected results and communicate findings.
Analyze and evaluate financial data and prepare statements, supporting schedules and reports for review by management.
Analyze financial data for decision-making support.
Sign off and review priority balance sheet accounts.
Communicate with system vendors to stay up to date on emerging technology and regular system updates.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
Provide assistance in variance reporting.
Suggest and implement process improvements and efficiencies.
Recruit, hire, and supervise accounting staff, conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback to the team, identify training needs, and coordinate training programs.
Support Controller in various financial management tasks.
Perform any other duties that may be assigned.
$110-150k (25% bonus target) At D.
