Overhead Crane Operators will use the traveling overhead/bridge crane to move, lift and position loads.
They will report to the Materials Foreman.
*Duties Summary/Responsibilities:* * Operate the traveling overhead/bridge crane to move, lift and position loads * Move and position physically materials and loads using hoisting attachments, such as hook, sling, electromagnet and bucket, etc * Observe and make sure that the load is safely attached and within the lifting limits * Keep the crane clean and well maintained * Inspects crane for defective parts and notifies the supervisor of defects or malfunctions * Perform operator routine maintenance and delay checks in accordance with corporation maintenance program and procedures * Work safely at all time and apply the OSHA and corporate safety standards where applicable * Ensure the smooth ongoing operation and productivity of the facilit *Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities* * High School Diploma or High School Equivalency * Relevant or prior experience operating overhead cranes and hoisting gears * Prior experience working in construction or manufacturing environment * Shows awareness and attention to safety * Good hand-eye coordination and quick reflexes * Ability to judge and estimate load weights/heights; safely and adequately operate the overhead crane within the equipment’s load/tolerance limits, specific requirements and principal features * Basic mathematical skills and mechanical knowledge * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Perform high quality work in a fast paced, dynamic work environment * Basic blueprint reading *Physical Requirements:* Ability to perform and sustain the following for varying periods of time: stand, walk, drag, pull, push, lift, lower, climb stairs or ladders, balance, bend, twist, squat, kneel and stoop on a constant basis, and work in an elevated location such as on top of fabrications or flatbed trailers.
Use of hands and arms fully extended.
Ability to lift and hold weights of up to 50 lbs.
in sometimes awkward positions when manipulating rigging.
Often lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds; use hands, arms and upper body on a frequent basis.
Full range of motion of the neck and shoulders.
Must be able to articulate hands and wrists to operate overhead crane remotes.
Ability to perform work in variable climate conditions such as but not limited to, hot, cold, dusty, noisy etc.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $21.
