Position Summary The Director of Athletic Advancement is the Advancement professional assigned to perform fundraising for a dynamic and growing athletic programs at the University of Providence.
Under the direct leadership of the Vice President for Advancement, the Director for Athletic Advancement will work with the Vice President for Student Engagement and Athletics, Athletic Director, coaches and other department leaders and coordinate with other Advancement staff.
Responsibilities * Establish and maintain a comprehensive individual giving, major gifts, and corporate sponsorships program to include planning and implementing strategies for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting top prospects with the goal of annual increases in both the number and number of gifts received.
* Maintain an active portfolio of past, current, and prospective major gift and corporate donors.
* Serve as the primary point person for gift reporting of charitable contributions to the Athletic Department.
* Provide active leadership in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and prospects, including alumni, parents, past student leaders, friends of the University and others.
* Visit with prospective donors and manage the University's relationship with assigned prospects and donors.
* Work directly with the VP for Advancement and collaborate with the Athletic Director to establish priorities within the Athletic Department for fundraising and create a plan to elevate philanthropy to larger constituency including messaging and marketing materials as needed.
* Coordinate and collaborate Athletic fundraising activities, events, and prospect management with VP for Advancement, VP of Student Engagement, and Athletic Director.
* Complete at least three key athletic events annually for the VP for Advancement, VP for Student Engagement and Athletics and Athletic Director to cross-promote, and foster engagement and participation in athletics to the UP community - students, alumni, trustees, and friends.
* Participate in the University community volunteer opportunities.
* Work and engage members of the greater UP community, to include faculty, parents, staff, students, and friends, while remaining sensitive to the inter-relationship of both people and functions within the departments.
* Demonstrate the formal and informal departmental goals, standards, policies, and procedures for Advancement and Athletics and maintain familiarity with other departments within UP.
* Deliver timely and effective follow-up to prospects and donors, press releases, and communication materials.
* Formulate and execute short-term and long-term strategic plans to include specific and measurable targets regarding definite fundraising, prospect management, personal contacts, stewardship activities, and solicitations goals.
* Work closely with the Athletic Director, Athletic Department staff, and coaches to establish charitable giving needs, opportunities, and sponsorships.
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships across campus, ensuring that fundraising activities are coordinated with other Advancement staff members and University initiatives.
* Design and execute effective fundraising and cultivation events.
* Work with staff to consistently ensure the Advancement database including prospect, donor, and alumni records is up to date and secure.
* Market priority programs to on-campus and off-campus constituents through publications and other communication methods, improving awareness, and expanding support.
* Ensure best practices in donor stewardship activities including appropriate individual and organizational donor recognition.
* Coordinate stewardship of Athletic Department scholarship endowments and awards.
 Plan and conduct sponsorship programs and activities designed to increase the visibility and support for Athletic Department programs which includes creating sponsorship proposals, soliciting potential sponsors, and coordinating fulfillment of sponsorship benefits.
* Effectively communicate University and Athletic Department goals and priorities in support of Advancement.
* Represent programs, the division, and the University in the community by attending events, participating in local organizations, and serving on community-based boards *Education* * Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required * Advanced degree preferred *Experience* * 1-3 years of progressively responsible and successful major gifts, sales, or fund-raising experience, including program planning and personal solicitation * Experience working in a higher education setting desired Experience in a higher education environment and/or on-profit or similar type of organization that partners regularly with volunteers as a part of the core mission of the work.
