Yep, it's the "John Lennon" guitar.
Same model, same era.
THE STORY:
Inherited this lovely thing when my mother passed a few years ago; it's been in the family for ~60 years, from purchase to the present.
To the best of my knowledge, my great-great grandfather purchased and started playing it sometime in the early 1960s - it then passed to my grandmother, to my mother, and to me.
Although I'm not 100% positive, based on the serial number I believe it's a 1961 model.
.
or right around that time, anyway.
It's been dear to all of us.
But I don't play, and all the musicians in my family are now gone.
So, I've wrestled with the idea of keeping it forever as an heirloom vs.
selling it to someone who'd love it and play it proper.
.
.
and.
.
.
decided on the latter.
It definitely needs work, as can be seen in the photos, but with a little love this guitar will sound amazing, as it always has.
Hope someone who'd really appreciate it will take this home and love it and play it, as should be.
PRICE:
I've been told it's worth $5,000, and I've been told it's worth $17,000 - aiming for a reasonable place somewhere in the relative lower-middle.
