MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 1.
Medical Assistant with at least 2 years’ experience in healthcare field or have a degree in health care.
2.
BLS certification after 6 months of working in the facility.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Ability to be flexible.
2.
Knowledge of organization and how departments inter-relate.
3.
Capacity to manage multiple projects and remain calm under pressure.
4.
Advanced knowledge of surgical procedures.
5.
Capacity for planning and organizing, prioritizing and planning work activities and using time efficiently.
6.
Display appropriate interpersonal skills.
7.
Ability to communicate effectively with peers and co-workers.
8.
Capability to handle confidential information and materials appropriately.
9.
Communicating between patient, nurses, and providers.
10.
Helpful in organizing patient information for surgery.
11.
Signing patients up for Mymobility and PIQ.
12.
Educating on surgery protocols.
13.
Assisting in insurance and billing requirements.
14.
Assists with and performs various medical procedures under the guidance of the medical provider or licensed nursing staff to enhance the care of the patient and the function of running an efficient and professional medical office practice.
15.
Obtains and documents an accurate evaluation of the patient’s presenting problem including the following elements: chief complaint, brief history of present illness, complete review of medications, allergies, and vital signs.
16.
Performs the following essential functions within scope of practice: a.
Ensures accuracy of the patient’s medical record by reviewing and updating health maintenance and disease management appropriately.
b.
Assesses the patient’s immunization status.
c.
Provides supportive care to patients of all age categories, pediatric to geriatric.
d.
Evaluates patients for signs / symptoms of abuse.
e.
Orients patients and family members to the healthcare environment and their medical status.
f.
Involves patients in the medical plan of care.
g.
Educates patients and family members regarding health issues.
h.
Refers patients and families to community resources when appropriate.
i.
Assists in providing direct patient care as needed to meet all patients’ needs.
j.
Carries out patient care in an organized and efficient manner.
k.
Documents patient care in an accurate and timely fashion.
l.
Communicates pertinent patient data to health care team members in a profession and timely manner.
m.
Organizes, maintains, and follows providers’ daily schedule.
n.
Communicates with patients as directed by the provider.
o.
Receives communication from patients and communicates patients’ needs/concerns to provider.
p.
Prepares and maintains clinical areas for provision of patient care.
q.
Answers the telephone and takes appropriate messages.
r.
Demonstrates competency in use of medical equipment for patient care (oximetry, datascope, glucometer, mechanical lift, AED, audio/visual screening equipment, cautery).
s.
Demonstrates competency in computer applications for documentation and communication purposes.
t.
Performs other duties as required.
17.
Maintains BLS certification.
Performs CPR when needed.
18.
Successfully performs as mentor/preceptor for new staff.
19.
Assists department director with staff training/education as needed.
20.
Actively participates in committees/projects as assigned.
21.
Assists department director with development and review of departmental policies.
22.
Assisting in verifying and checking benefits of patient’s insurance for procedures and surgeries, preauthorizing all accounts as needed.
23.
Assisting in verifying Worker’s Comp coverage and obtain approval before any procedure is scheduled.
24.
Assisting in insurance verification for surgical procedures and injections.
25.
Communicating with all team members in outpatient and inpatient surgical candidates.
26.
Other duties as assigned.
Salary commensurate with up to 10 years of experience.
