Role Overview: Our client seeks an experienced and dynamic Legal Director to lead their legal affairs and regulatory compliance efforts based in Malta.
As the Legal Director, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring legal compliance, managing regulatory affairs, and providing strategic legal guidance to support our client's operations and growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities: Legal Compliance and Risk Management: Oversee and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and licensing requirements governing the iGaming industry in Malta and other relevant jurisdictions.
Identify legal risks and provide proactive guidance to mitigate potential liabilities, safeguard the company's interests, and maintain legal compliance across all aspects of our client's operations.
Regulatory Affairs: Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory authorities, licensing bodies, and governmental agencies in Malta and other jurisdictions where our client operates.
Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and industry standards, assess their impact on our client's business operations, and implement necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.
Contract Management and Negotiations: Oversee the drafting, review, and negotiation of a wide range of commercial agreements, including client contracts, vendor agreements, licensing agreements, and partnership agreements.
Provide legal guidance and support to internal stakeholders on contractual matters, ensuring that agreements align with our client's business objectives and legal standards.
Corporate Governance and Compliance Programs: Develop and implement effective corporate governance frameworks, policies, and compliance programs to uphold ethical standards, promote transparency, and ensure accountability throughout the organization.
Provide training and guidance to internal teams on legal and regulatory matters, fostering a culture of compliance and ethical behavior across our client.
Legal Counsel and Strategic Guidance: Provide expert legal advice and strategic guidance to senior management and key stakeholders on a wide range of legal issues, including intellectual property rights, data protection, commercial disputes, and corporate transactions.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and product development, to address legal considerations and support strategic business initiatives.
Qualifications and Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Law, with admission to practice law in Malta.
Advanced degree (LL.
M.
) or relevant certifications preferred.
Minimum of 8-10 years of legal experience, with a focus on regulatory compliance, corporate law, and commercial transactions within the iGaming or related industries.
Proven track record of leadership in legal roles, with experience managing legal teams and overseeing complex legal matters in a multinational environment.
In-depth knowledge of iGaming regulations, licensing requirements, and compliance standards in Malta and other key jurisdictions.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess legal risks, navigate regulatory complexities, and develop pragmatic solutions to complex legal issues.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with internal stakeholders, external partners, and regulatory authorities.
Sound judgment, integrity, and a commitment to upholding ethical standards and legal principles in all aspects of the role.
Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in additional languages is advantageous.
