Position: Hearings/Screening Officer Job Classification: Exempt Reports To: Treatment Services Director Supervises: Partial supervision over residents during IR hearing.
Position Scope: Up to 250 Residents participating in a Residential Re-Entry Program.
Position Summary: The Great Falls Pre-Release Center is a non-profit Community Corrections worksite consisting of three Counseling campuses.
The campuses are minimum security and residential in nature, housing closely screened and selected participants for program acceptance, adult male and female felon offenders during their structured transition program for re-entry into the community.
The Centers also operate a Jail Alternative program for adult male/female clients and a Community Service program involving adjudicated males and females.
Disciplinary Hearings Officer - Primarily responsible for overseeing the disciplinary process of resident’s at the center.
Process daily incident reports produced by staff for approval and set hearing dates for major and severe incident reports.
Facilitates the formal hearing process between resident’s and the Department of Corrections Hearings Officer.
Assigns disciplinary sanctions for minor rule infractions to be served by the Correctional Treatment Specialist.
Record and distribute grievances to proper personnel for resolution.
Screening Officer - Work closely with Treatment Services Director to assess candidates for screening and possible admission into the Pre-Release Program.
Hearings/Screenings Officer is responsible for preparation of designated files to be reviewed by local screening committee and may be requested to present information directly to screening committee as it pertains to personnel interviews with offender.
Key Responsibilities and Duties: 1.
Provide assistance to Treatment Services Director in the screening process.
This shall include regular screening of files in addition to scheduled bi-weekly screening meetings with local law enforcement agencies, representative from the Board of Directors and Treatment Services Director.
Will also participate in the orientation process for new residents.

Compile completed screening notes to be presented for screening committee on screening day.
Prepare post screening report with results of accepted and denied offenders to be sent out to personnel of treatment and secure facilities.

Provide completed hearings packets for major rule violations and jail hearings to DOC Hearings Officer.
5.
Record results of hearings to be shared with center staff and resident CTS.
6.
Work closely with Adult Probation and Parole for jail placement.
7.
Keep Treatment Services Director informed on the coordination of placement dates.
8.
Process formal grievances submitted by residents.
9.
Compile monthly grievance reports and submit to DOC headquarters.
10.
Perform additional duties as requested or assigned.
Qualifications and Skills: · Bachelor’s Degree in social work, sociology, psychology or other social science or related field.
· Three years’ experience in work involving general human services programs for the adult public or two years’ experience in work involving human services programs for adult felons.
· Experience in a residential facility with ex-offenders is preferred.
· Knowledge of Federal Bureau of Prisons policies and procedures per the federal Statement of Work.
· Must have ability to organize and manage time effectively and to keep records orderly and up to date.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with center staff, Board of Directors and community-based agencies.
· Effective verbal and written communication and must maintain a mature and empathic personality.
