Position Summary As a 12-month live-in position, the Residential Life Community Coordinator position works directly with the Director of Community Standards and Residential Life to create a successful and supportive residence life experience for University of Providence students.
By residing in campus housing and being readily available to respond to crises and urgent situations, the Residential Life Community Coordinator helps to create and maintain a safe and supportive residential environment for all students.
In addition, they will work to develop and implement programs and activities that foster a sense of community, well-being, and belonging among college residents, and support students in developing the skills required to successfully navigate the opportunities and challenges of living and learning within the University community.
This position manages Resident Assistant (RA) staff and is responsible for providing leadership by promoting an atmosphere within the residential community that supports academic achievement and fosters responsible decision-making and supporting community and student development through Resident Assistant programming.
In addition, the position is responsible for professional and effective communication with students, parents, staff, faculty, and members of the campus community.
Responsibilities Train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of Resident Assistants Implement and carry out a community engagement learning and support model Facilitate the training for RAs to respond to crisis situations in accordance with departmental and institutional emergency procedures; assume “on-call” responsibility for all area residence halls and apartments on a scheduled basis Responsible for the administrative functions and managerial operations of all residence halls and apartments including student maintenance and RA programming Responsible for all housing and residence life areas in the absence of the Director of Community Standards and Residential Life Provide leadership and supervision in the development of education and social programming within the residence hall communities Responsible for addressing the needs, interests, and concerns of the hall/apartment residents and respond to students’ residence life concerns on a regular basis Respond appropriately to confidential matters and make proper referrals to university offices as needed.
Demonstrate an on-going commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice by addressing the needs and concerns of underrepresented students.
Develop and demonstrate multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse, and respectful University community.

Requirements Education Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience Two years of relevant professional experience working in a related field.
Graduate and undergraduate student experience will be considered.
Knowledge of best practices related to living and learning programs and services designed to promote student success.
Familiarity with student conduct proceedings, Title IX, Clery Act, VAWA, and other higher education compliance/legal issues preferred.
Demonstrated multicultural competence as well as comfort and skill in working with diverse populations.
Experience with collaboration, problem-solving, multi-tasking, crisis management, and organizational skills.
