Position Summary
The Health and Physical Education Faculty at the University of Providence plays a vital role in preparing future educators specializing in Health and Physical Education.
This position involves the delivery of high-quality instruction, curriculum development, and the promotion of overall well-being.
The faculty member will contribute to the academic community through research, mentorship, and collaboration with colleagues, fostering an environment that inspires students to lead healthy and active lives.
Responsibilities
Teach 24 credits per academic year (12 each semester) in the Education program.
Instruct courses in multicultural education, social studies education, field practicum courses, and
assessment, and/or other methods courses.
Teach on-line required courses.
Recruit and advise undergraduate students.
Supervise student teachers.
Conduct program assessment and development.
Assist with program accreditation.
Perform scholarly activities.
Provide service to the program, University, profession, and community.
Requirements
Education
A terminal degree (Ph.
D.
or Ed.
D.
) in Education.
Doctoral candidates who are ABD (all but dissertation) are encouraged to apply.
Specialization curriculum and instruction required.
Experience
Preference for the following:
Experience teaching at varied K-12 levels.
Ability to teach classes and/ or content knowledge in Health Pedagogy, Physical Education Pedagogy, Coaching Pedagogy, Health Sports Management, and Physical Education
Experience with advising students.
Expertise with computer applications for instructional purposes.
Communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with a diverse student population and colleagues.
