Education Department that provides studio arts programming to all ages and abilities offering quarterly classes and 5 free art programs (teens, seniors, veterans, adults with disabilities, GFPS 3rd grade tours).
The Education Department manages a Docent Program in addition to managing the annual Arts on Fire Festival.
The Education Assistant supports the Director of Education through administrative work, correspondence, cleaning, and organization for a diverse and expansive Education Department.
The Education Assistant has an opportunity to teach classes and workshops for additional pay as an Instructor.
*Responsibilities:* *Data collection* × Work with relevant staff to collect data and keep department spreadsheets up to date.
These include, but may not be limited to, weekly, monthly, and quarterly spreadsheets such as the Kiln Firing Log, Youth Participation Data, Demographics Data, Locker Assignments, Class Rosters, Student Contact Information, Grant Applications and Grant Reports.
*Classroom Maintenance* × Maintain classrooms for programming, including but not limited to: stocking art supplies and cleaning supplies, covering tables, monitoring first aid kits, and more.
× Assist Director of Education with classroom organization projects.
× Maintain the art supply closet and organize as needed.
× Keep classroom art supplies organized in their appropriate places.
× Work with Facilities Manager to maintain clean, and safe workspaces.
*Program Support* × Organize and schedule Docent Program Tours.
× Assists with annual Docent Program training and recruitment.
× Leads Docent Tours when needed.
× Assist in ordering art program materials.
× Provide Instructor support and substitution during classes and workshops as needed, working with all ages.
× Assist with community outreach for additional Docent Tours and programs.
× Assist Ceramic Tech with kiln Firings and other ceramic area duties as needed.
× Correspondence with students via email and phone.
× Follow up with class participants to make sure artwork is picked up.
*Event Support* × Work with Director of Education to prepare for Education Department exhibitions and events.
Tasks may include but are not limited to seeking quotes for various products and services, entering artwork label content and printing artwork labels for display, hanging exhibitions, creating calls for artwork, vendors, or performers, and working at events.
*Administrative Support* × Attend all staff meetings.
× Answer emails daily.
× Provide administrative support for Director Education and Ceramic Tech by completing other duties assigned.
× Occasional weekend work hours as needed for events.
× Assist students, education volunteers, and visitors with questions.
*Qualifications:* × Maintains a positive attitude and thrives in a collaborative environment.
× Can safely lift 50lbs or more.
× Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
× Reliable and on time.
× Can self-manage, problem-solve, and be proactive.
× Organized, detail-oriented, and able to stay on task.
× Competency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook × Arts Education Degree BA, BFA, or MFA preferred or minimum of 3 years' experience in teaching and working in the field of Fine Arts.
