The Montana Department of Transportation is recruiting for a Maintenance Technician in Dutton.
The Maintenance Technician operates a variety of equipment, including trucks, to perform regular maintenance activities such as ditch cleaning, patching, overlays, fence repairs, mowing, bridge repair and material or equipment transportation.
In winter, loads sanding material and performs snow removal and sanding.
Responsible for overall function operations of machines including preoperational checking, scheduling servicing, adding fluids, changing pins, and cutting edges, etc.
Performs related work as required.
Requires a valid Montana Commercial Operators License (Class A, Type II) with tanker and airbrake endorsements and no restrictions and a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC).
Applicants with a learner's permit have 30 days to obtain the necessary Montana Commercial Operators License.
This agency may use a training assignment.
Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules.
Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.
Applications will be reviewed weekly and this requisition may be updated to reflect current openings as vacancies are filled.
Successful applicant must live within 45 road miles of the assigned maintenance section and must have a telephone or be reasonably accessible to the section headquarters.

Requires knowledge of highway maintenance and equipment operation including basic diesel/gasoline vehicle maintenance.
Basic math, recordkeeping, computer skills and the ability to make estimates of materials needed.
A valid Montana Commercial Operators License (Class A, Type II) with no restrictions a tank endorsement and a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC).
Applicants with a learner's permit or a Class B CDL have 30 days to obtain the necessary Montana Commercial Operators License.
Driver's record will be verified.
Successful applicants will be required to sign a release form which authorizes the Department to obtain the applicant's permanent driving records.
