You will be responsible for prioritizing the cleanliness and safety of Fishing Access Sites, State Parks, and Wildlife Management Areas in the Great Falls and White Sulphur Springs areas.
This position is dynamic, and responsibilities will change throughout the season allowing you to acquire knowledge in the safe operation of both hand and power tools, landscaping equipment, noxious weed identification, and basic carpentry.
Flexibility exists to adapt work schedules to individual needs.
Typically, this position works a 40-hour week Monday-Friday from mid-April through mid-September; however, accommodations can be made to modify schedules, including adapting the position to a year-round part-time schedule or narrowing the months worked.

Job Duties: The Great Falls/White Sulphur Springs groundskeeper will be responsible for light maintenance duties associated with: Newlan Creek Reservoir Fishing Access Site, Martinsdale Reservoir Fishing Access Site, Fort Logan Fishing Access Site, Smith River State Park, Sluice Boxes State Park, Smith River Wildlife Management Area and Giant Springs State Park.
These weekly duties include: · Litter/Garbage Collection · Mowing and Trimming · Vault Latrine Cleaning (Pressure washing, sanitation, and restocking) · Campsite Preparation This position will also work in conjunction with other Region 4 Maintenance staff to assist with noxious weed control, road/parking area maintenance, and carpentry projects.
It is important to recognize that the duties and responsibilities of this position are focused outside and require the groundskeeper in work in inclement weather conditions that may include extreme heat, wind, and sun.
Additionally, the groundskeeper is required to collect litter along trail networks which will require hiking several miles into remote areas.
First Aid and CPR certification will be provided.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: · Incumbent should have the knowledge and skills to work with various types of hand tools and equipment.
· Must have the interest and ability to work with the general public.
· Ability to safely follow all traffic and state laws and ability to tow trailer with proper towing and safety protocols.
· Participates in and if qualified, provides training in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
· Should have a good grasp of the general information about each FWP site and surrounding area that the incumbent will be responsible for and the ability to communicate this to the public.
· Must be able to carry out assigned tasks with little supervision.
· Must behave ethically and appropriately when serving visitors.
Physical and Environmental Demands: Physical demands include frequent exertion, often for extended periods, including lifting, carrying, digging and pounding.
This position frequently requires field work under adverse weather and environmental conditions that may include: Temperature extremes, snow and rain, dust and mosquito infested areas.
On or near wastewater and sewage disposal systems with potential for contact with disease, virus and bacteria.
Areas frequented by rodents with the potential for contact with disease such as Hantavirus.
Hazardous chemicals, including various pesticides, solvents, paints and fuels.
Working weekends and some holidays and occasional time away during evenings, overnight or away from permanent workstation.
Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience): The knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position are normally attained through a high school diploma or equivalency.
Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
A valid drivers license is required.
