Job Title: Summer Camp_ Kitchen Assistant
Salary Class: Temporary, Hourly/Non-Exempt
Location: Summer Camp as assigned
Reports to: Summer Camp Lead
Objective/Summary:
Responsible for supporting the operation of a summer camp program for campers and staff by assisting the Lead Chef with food preparation, organization, and daily kitchen operations of assigned summer camp location based on College Fresh’s vision and goals fresh, made from scratch food and outstanding customer service.
Essential Functions:
Under the direction of Lead Chef, assists with preparation of food served using established production procedures and systems.
Receive product deliveries, assist in organization of inventory for kitchen, walk-in, storerooms, and dining room as directed by the Lead Chef.
Comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards.
Clean and stock all supplies/staples in dining area for the current meal, snacks, etc.
per specific client guidelines.
Store food properly and safely, marking the date and item following company policy and local health regulations.
Perform routine assignments such as dishwashing, mopping, sweeping, garbage removal, and other daily cleaning functions as assigned.
Provide excellent customer service in a prompt and courteous manner.
Other Functions:
Serve meals during meal service if required.
May be required to cover meal(s) as needed (in the absence of Chef or Camp Lead Chef or during their regularly scheduled time off).
Supervisor Responsibility:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibility.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This position is temporary, hourly, and full-time.
This position could work varying shifts between Monday Sunday (depending on summer camp contract and business needs).
Current academic year schedules are not guaranteed for this position.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a kitchen environment (indoor or outdoor), housed with equipment such as ovens, stoves, dishwashers, slicers, coffee machines, steamers, mixers, and chef’s knives.
The employee is frequently exposed to heat, steam, fire, and noise.
Due to the nature of summer camps, employees may be exposed to adverse weather and/or living conditions to include, but not limited to, poor heating or cooling elements, prolonged sun or rain exposure, hazardous insects, or animals, etc.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less.
Required to stand for extended periods of time.
May be required to walk long distances (up to a mile or more) and/or uphill in varying terrain.
The position requires the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
Required Education and Experience:
Must currently be employed by College Fresh.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Previous experience working at a summer camp operation.
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
Must be able to travel to and live on site at camp for a minimum of 4 full weeks, unless otherwise approved in writing by Vice President and Director, Regional Operations.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a current Servsafe Food Protection certificate or equivalent, from a nationally recognized or approved certification program.
Must adhere to policies and procedures set forth in College Fresh employee handbook and corresponding handbook/code of ethics for assigned account.
