*JOB DESCRIPTION CHILD CARE COOK: * _Under the supervision of the Director and Team Manager, the cook is responsible for: _ *Duties include:* * Preparing and serving healthy meals and snacks for children while following guidelines provided by the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
* Assisting with reporting for the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
* Wash all dishes from the classrooms, regardless if used for food service.
* Prepare items for classroom events and activities (i.
e.
, Hot Chocolate Party, Popcorn Party, Playdough, etc.
).
* Ensure kitchen is fully stocked with items teachers need (i.
e.
, salt, pepper, ketchup, dressings, etc.
).
* Wash and sanitize food service carts once a week.
* Ensure dishes are fully clean and sanitized daily .
* Ensure food is given to classrooms in appropriate size for the ages of children who are in the classroom (for example, infant room would have pureed or pea size foods, mobile infant room would have sizes between peas and blueberries, older rooms should have foods like grapes cut in such a way as to prevent choking hazards).
* Prepare meals for monthly staff meetings.
* Prepare meals for monthly parent meetings.
* Prepare meals & desserts for special events such as Thanksgiving Feast, Halloween Party, Christmas Program, Graduation.
* Prepare meals & other foods requested for Director’s family.
* Prepare meals & other foods requested for Director’s outside events.
* Make coffee daily for parents & staff & set up coffee station with cream, sugar, mugs, & disposable cups.
* Follow written menu.
* Clean and sanitize all food prep & food service surfaces.
* ServSafe Certified.
* Take any required CACFP trainings.
* Answer phone & help customers as needed if Director or Management Team Member are not available.
* Provide recipes to the Director for all food prepared for use in cook’s absence & as a reference for potential allergic reactions.
* Take kitchen garbage to the trash & other classroom garbage as needed during the day.
* Clean fridges and freezers twice a month.
* Ensure fridges and freezers are maintained at the correct temperatures.
* Keep track of all child and staff allergies & prepare substitutions as needed.
* Attend special events, parent nights, staff meeting etc.
to serve food and clean up * Make weekly grocery lists.
* Put weekly shopping items away.
* Sanitize classroom water bottles daily.
* Ensure “use by” or “best before” dates of products are checked weekly and removed immediately if expired.
* Label all food products with date open/cooked, including classroom milk containers.
* Label all prepared food products with common allergens.
* Perform other duties as requested by the Director or Team Manager.
* Ensure current week and the following week’s menus are always posted.
* Begin to create Standardized Recipes and use them as they are created.
* Has food on designated carts/buckets at the correct times.
(9:00 am for breakfast, 11:45 am for lunch, 2:30 pm for snack.
* Keeps kitchen, including appliances, cabinets and all inventory, organized and clean.
* Determines meal and snack count and distributes food to each classroom.
* Ensures that all state and local health department, licensing, safety and nutritional requirements are met; follows standards of personal hygiene, safety, and sanitation and ensures that other staff in kitchen do the same.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $13.
