Job Title: LPN Certified Medication Technician (Aide)
Job Summary:
The LPN Certified Medication Technician (Aide) is responsible for providing assistance and support to patients under the supervision of licensed nurses.
They will primarily focus on medication administration and delivering patient care as per approved protocols and guidelines.
The LPN Certified Medication Technician (Aide) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients under their care.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1.
Administer prescribed medications to patients following established protocols and regulations.
2.
Monitor and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
3.
Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
4.
Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients, maintaining a clean and organized medication cart and work area.
5.
Observe changes in patient health or behavior and report to the licensed nurse immediately.
6.
Assist in preparing and maintaining patient medical records and treatment documentation accurately.
7.
Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
8.
Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families during their stay.
9.
Adhere to infection control and safety standards, maintaining a high level of hygiene and following proper protocols.
10.
Participate in training programs and continuous education to enhance knowledge and skills.
11.
Comply with all state regulations, licensing requirements, and facility policies while providing care.
12.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information and promote respect for privacy rights.
13.
Perform other duties as assigned by the licensed nurse or healthcare team.
Qualifications and Skills:
1.
Valid LPN or LMT (Licensed Medication Technician) certification.
2.
High school diploma or equivalent.
3.
Previous experience as a Medication Technician or related role is preferred.
4.
Knowledge of medication administration procedures, including dosage calculations and drug interactions.
5.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
6.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
7.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
8.
Capacity to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
9.
Good time management and organizational abilities.
10.
Computer literacy for medical records documentation and basic administrative tasks.
11.
Physical stamina and the ability to lift/move heavy objects or patients.
12.
Understanding of patient rights and confidentiality laws.
13.
Current CPR certification.
14.
Knowledge of nursing principles, procedures, and standards.
15.
Flexibility in working various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
