*TITLE: * Accountant
*DEPARTMENTS: *Museum Operations
*REPORTS TO:* Senior Director of Finance
*SUPERVISES: *N/A
*Position Summary*: The Accountant is a permanent full-time exempt staff position that is responsible for entering general journal entries, maintaining accounts receivable records, processing payroll, and assisting with daily operations deposits and processing accounts payable as needed.
He/she is also responsible for preparing, organizing and maintaining the Museum financial information and assisting in the preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements.
The Accountant will work with Museum staff and management to assist in developing and monitoring the operating budget.
Flexible hours are required for occasional after-hours and weekend events.
*PRIMARY DUTIES:*

· General ledger oversight.
· Maintain payroll records, administer employee benefits, and prepare biweekly payroll.
· Oversee monthly reconciliations.
· Ensure proper accounting procedures are in place and followed by staff.
· Create and distribute monthly department dashboards.
· Oversee daily deposits for overall museum operations, including: admissions, Museum store, membership, external relations, and special events.
· Assist in preparing the museum’s annual budget with supporting documentation and records the budget information.
· Assist in preparing year-end financial statements and audit information for review and acceptance by the outside auditing entity.
· Review and analyze monthly museum admission.
· Review and analyze monthly store sales.
· Recommend policies and procedures.
· Assist with special events.
· Assist with museum data base maintenance.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
*QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / ABILITIES:*
· Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting or business, plus three years’ experiences or acceptable equivalent.
· Knowledge of fund accounting, asset/liability management, investments, payroll procedures.
· Ability to organize and plan work assignments; exceptional attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects and time effectively.
· Ability to work well independently as well as with a team.
· Exceptional communication, interpersonal skills, and customer service skills, including sound English, spelling and grammar skills; ability to create, compose, and edit written materials
· Self-motivated with the ability to organize and schedule work assignments; exceptional attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects
· Understanding of office technology systems including Microsoft Office, professional telephone techniques; proficiency in word processing including document preparation, mass mailings, and all forms of board communication
· Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure
· Position requires ability to sit or stand for extended periods on a regular basis, ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
· Requires ability to frequently walk, communicate to varied audiences in person and on the phone, stoop, kneel, bend, reach, and crouch.
· Punctual, reliable, and flexible.

Pay: From $55,000.
