The Accounting Associate III examines, analyzes, and interprets accounting records for the purpose of completing transactions, giving guidance, and preparing statements and reports.
This level includes complex reconciliation and problem resolution for multiple indexes.
This position assists with development and implementation of systems for recording costs or other financial and budgetary data.
Duties and Responsibilities Prepare financial accounting reports for restricted grant accounts – assist applicants with budgeting and setting up new grants; review grant agreements, draw funds, report expenditures as required.
Assist with tracking and entering the fixed assets into the Banner system for the University.
Arrange for disposal and record disposal of surplus property.
Audit campus change/imprest funds quarterly.
Make accounting entries as needed.
Serve as back-up cashier in absence of lead cashier (collect cash and other payments, reconcile cash drawer daily, complete bank deposits).
Prepare and plan for ongoing events such as registration/fee assessment and refunds.
Ensure that tuition and fees are charged correctly within the Banner system.
Work with other departments to provide students with a quality experience with administrative functions of the university.
Responsible for testing and training for upgrades in Banner student financial and accounts receivable modules.
Perform monthly bank reconciliation, GL recon/Clearing Account, QuikPay Sessions and other miscellaneous reconciliations.
Responsible for PCI Compliance; Request Book Buyback funds; Process 1098-T Tax forms; Simultaneous Enrollment Credits; FISAP Report; and Apprenticeship Payments Other duties as assigned in support of Business Office mission and MSUN mission.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Associate Degree in related field and related office experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge and experience with accounting/bookkeeping principles.
Demonstrated competence maintaining, processing, and verifying detailed information with a high degree of accuracy and close attention to detail.
Demonstrated excellent communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Working knowledge of the university system and MSUN.
Experience working in higher education.
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business, or related field.
Experience working with grants/contracts.
Experience organizing and planning work effectively with minimal supervision.
Experience with Banner software.
Experience with data bases and spreadsheets.

Title IX Coordinator The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the University’s compliance with federal and state discrimination and harassment laws, including Title IX.
The Title IX Coordinator oversees compliance with the University’s Discrimination and Grievance Policy.
